Anambra Guber: APC Aspirant Vows To End Insecurity, Lawlessness

2 hours ago 17

Valentine Ozigbo, a governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the November, 2025 election in Anambra State, has strongly criticized the current administration, describing it as chaotic, insensitive, and disconnected from the plight of the people.

Speaking on Monday after receiving his nomination and expression of interest forms—purchased on his behalf by a youth group, Valiant Movement—Ozigbo decried the worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and what he termed “arrogance in governance.”

He said: “The people of Anambra are suffering. If you know the number of people who have been killed, kidnapped, raped, or maimed in this state, they run into thousands. Governance is about leadership, service, and empathy—qualities that are missing today in Anambra. A lot needs to be done, but sadly, it is not being done,” he lamented.

Ozigbo also faulted the state government’s revenue generation tactics, saying they have led to widespread harassment and extortion.

“There is an aggressive push for internally generated revenue (IGR), to the extent that touts and groups like NACODO have become the face of governance. This has resulted in lawlessness, insecurity, and the inhumane treatment of citizens. Even market leadership has been politicized, creating division and tension. The people of Anambra have spoken, and their message is clear: Soludo must go,”he declared.

Laying out his vision for the state, Ozigbo promised to prioritize security, infrastructure, power, technology, and economic development.

“Anambra deserves better. My governance approach will focus on three core strategies: sectoral development, cluster transformation, and strategic partnerships. We will tackle insecurity, improve road networks, enhance power supply, and develop rail transport. Agriculture and sports will also be key in creating opportunities for young people. Our ultimate goal is to boost GDP growth and create jobs,” he explained.

He further outlined his plan to transform key cities in the state: Onitsha into a thriving commercial hub, Nnewi into an industrial powerhouse, Awka into a true capital city and Omanbala into a major agricultural processing hub.

According to him, Anambra has the resources and entrepreneurial spirit needed to achieve this transformation.

Ozigbo emphasized the importance of collaboration with the private sector in driving development, especially in security, education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

“Anambra has some of the most successful business leaders in the country. How do we make their wealth work for the state? Through partnerships, we can improve security, ensure quality education, strengthen healthcare, and upgrade our infrastructure. I want to create a system where communities compete based on development, not politics,”he said.

With the 2027 elections approaching, Ozigbo reaffirmed his commitment to offering Anambra a new era of progress and inclusive leadership.

Earlier, while presenting the nomination form to Ozigbo, Ike Bishop Okoronkwo, in a statement, called on APC members, democracy advocates, and all Ndi Anambra who desire good governance to unite behind the aspirant.

“We are making a statement that Ndi Anambra deserve a leader who listens, understands, and delivers. The era of empty promises and broken systems must end,” Okoronkwo said.

Describing Ozigbo as the people’s choice, he praised him as a rare bridge between the grassroots and the elite, tradition and innovation, and the Anambra of today and the Anambra of the future.

“A multiple award-winning global CEO, a renowned philanthropist, an international sports promoter, and a champion of youth development—Valentine Ozigbo’s record speaks for itself. He has excelled as a corporate business leader, inspired millions as a political figure, and remained unwavering in his commitment to good governance,” he added.

Okoronkwo concluded by stating that the presentation of the nomination form to Ozigbo was a bold declaration that Anambra will no longer accept mediocrity in leadership.

“We refuse to settle for politics as usual. Anambra must be governed by the best, and in Valentine Ozigbo, we see the hope and progress that our people deserve,” he said.
