Afenifere Renewal Group mourns Adebanjo

The Afenifere Renewal Group USA Chapter has expressed profound sadness over the passing of Chief Ayo Adebanjo, a renowned Yoruba icon and leader of the Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group Afenifere.

In a statement signed by Lanre Balogun, Coordinator of the ARG-USA, the group described Chief Adebanjo as a man who dedicated his life to speaking truth to power, advocating for justice, and promoting the well-being of the Yoruba people and Nigeria as a whole.

Chief Adebanjo, who passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 96, was hailed as a shining example of leadership and dedication. The group noted that his contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria, particularly to the Yoruba people, are monumental and irreplaceable.

The ARG-USA called on the Southwest governors to give Chief Adebanjo a burial befitting his stature, immortalizing his legacy and celebrating his contributions at the highest level. The group also urged Yoruba leaders to unite in pursuit of a common vision, rallying around Chief Adebanjo’s ideals to move the Yoruba nation forward.

As reported earlier, Chief Adebanjo died peacefully at his residence in Lekki, Lagos. His passing has been widely mourned, with many paying tribute to his remarkable life and legacy.
