50-year-old farmer ‘shot dead’ in Ogun

A 50-year-old man, who had gone to his farm since Saturday but failed to return home has been found dead at Ageri Village, via Olodo, in the Odeda local government area of Ogun state.

The deceased, Alfa Mustache lifeless body was found face up, with his cutlass beside him was found with some gun shot wound. 

Confirming the incident on Sunday, the Ogun police command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said the Chief Imam of the community had reported the incident to the Police Outstation in Olodo. 

“The case was reported to the Police Outstation in Olodo at about 1830 hours on February 22, 2025, by the Chief Imam of Ageri Mosque, Moshood Mustapha, who stated that the deceased had gone to his farm in the morning but failed to return home. 

“Concerned about his whereabouts, the Imam proceeded to the farm at about 1802 hours, where he found the deceased lying face up with his cutlass beside him”, she said 

Odutola noted that upon receiving the report, police officers from the outstation, visited the scene, took photographs, and deposited the corpse at the General Hospital, Odeda, for medical examination.

“At first, no sign of violence was detected on the body due to heavy rainfall and poor visibility at night.

“However, a doctor’s assessment later revealed that the deceased had suffered bullet wounds from pellets, indicating he was shot at close range”, she added

The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, therefore ordered an intensive investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators

He urged anyone with useful information that could aid the investigation to come forward and assist the police, assuring that the command will leave no stone unturned in bringing those responsible to justice.
