From Fred Ezeh, Abuja
Religious leaders in Nigeria led by the General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye; Founder of Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo; and President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Francis-Wale Oke; and several others have advocated a new approach to new Nigeria that will champion positive global socioeconomic revolution.
The church leaders, at their separate remarks at the 18th National Biennial Conference and the 40th anniversary of PFN, in Abuja, on Thursday, on the theme “The Rebirth of a Great Nation”, highlighted that Nigeria has all it takes to champion the needed change in every sectors of the world economy, and that the world is waiting for the rise of Nigeria and Nigerians.
The PFN President, in his remarks, made reference to the impacts being made by members of PFN within and outside Nigeria, stating that the church has put Nigeria in the global map through the Help and Inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
He said: “PFN members are driving church revolution across the world. No doubt, the PFN through the Help of God has made significant impact in the lives of people in the past 40 years.”
He explained that the theme of the conference based on Isaiah 60:8, reflects the call for action, noting that Heaven is ready to help the Nigeria, but Christians must contribute through prayer, teaching, evangelism, and discipleship.
Bishop Oyedepo, in his message challenged the Chirstian community to champion the cause for a new Nigeria which, he insisted, is possible. “Achieving a new Nigeria is a cheap possibility, but we must take ownership of that project. We must start from ourselves. Let us be that champion. We should not make ourselves a cheap commodity to be bought, but incorruptable change agents in every area of our endeavour.
“I love this country with passion. I want to be alive to see a brand new Nigeria that will be the envy of the global community. I want to be alive to see a debt-free nation, a corruption-free nation, a nation that celebrate righteousness in all areas. But we need to take spiritual responsibility to see that achieved.”
Pastor Adeboye, in his remarks, appreciated the level of evangelism and human transformation being championed by the Church in Nigeria, as well as the positive impact being felt across the world.
He assured that Nigeria will be great again, and the greatness will be championed by the church in Nigeria, and the world will feel and see the impact thereof.
Senior Pastor, Dunamis International Church, Pastor Paul Enenche, said that Nigeria is so blessed with human and material resources, but it’s people are not enjoying the resources because bad political leadership.
“But it’s not a lost hope. People are running to US and UK because things/systems are working there. It can be replicated here with ease when the church rises.”
General Overseer of the All Christians Fellowship Mission, Dr. William Okoye, said that the church has an important role to play for Nigeria to experience rebirth.
Okoye emphasized that only the changed people can change the world, insisting that the church must commit herself to producing Chirst-like disciples that will be agents of change in the society.
Okoye decried the high level of moral decadence in the society, and observed that only the church can address the moral decadence in the society.
He said, “Our problem as a church is misplaced priority, and we must fix that if we want to see a national rebirth. The church must raise people that cannot be compromised or bought over”.
