A$AP Rocky Acquitted Of Charges In Firearm Assault Case

5 days ago 16

Rapper A$AP Rocky, Rakim Mayers, has been found not guilty of two felony assault charges after being accused of firing a semiautomatic weapon at former friend Terell Ephron in 2021.

The verdict, delivered at the Los Angeles Superior Court, brought emotional reactions, with Mayers embracing his legal team and thanking the jury. “We’re blessed to be here right now, to be a free man,” he said.

During the three-week trial, prosecutors argued that Mayers deliberately shot at Ephron, while the defense claimed the gun was a prop and that Ephron was the aggressor. Mayers, who maintained his innocence, declined a plea deal and chose not to testify.

Following the verdict, his attorney criticized the lack of evidence, while Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman reaffirmed his commitment to prosecuting cases regardless of a defendant’s fame.

“First of all, we want to thank God,” he said outside Los Angeles Superior Court in downtown Los Angeles. “We really want to thank the jury for making the right decision.”

Supporters gathered outside the courthouse to celebrate, with Mayers’ lawyer emphasizing that the rapper’s influence extends beyond his music.
