7500 projects added to 2024 budget during appropriation

About 7,500 projects were added to the 2024 National Budget during appropriation, checks from a budget office’s document have revealed.

The checks showed that 2510 projects were added to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security budget during appropriation while the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation had 735 added to its budget.

The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation’s budget was padded with 544 projects while the Ministry of Labour & Employment added 532 to its budget through the backdoor.

On its part, the Ministry of Education has about 529 extra projects added to its original budget during appropriation.

Similarly, the Ministry of Water Resources was padded with  495 projects while the Ministry of Health & Social Welfare has 435 extra projects added to its budget.

The Ministry of Works has 263 projects padded to its budget while the Ministry of Industry, Trade & Investment has 237 projects.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs & Poverty Alleviation has 210 projects added to it while the Ministry of Power has 142 with the Ministry of Housing & Urban Development 98.
