36 Kaduna agro-dealers trained on agribusiness management

No fewer than 36 Kaduna-based agro dealers including retailers of seeds, fertilizer and other agricultural inputs have received business management training that will equip local agro-dealers with advanced knowledge and skills, and foster strong agribusiness skills for a better agricultural sector.

The two-day training organised by HortiNigeria – a Dutch-funded horticultural program implemented in Kano, Kaduna, Ogun, and Oyo states, is aimed at empowering agro-dealers and also create a ripple effect that will benefit the entire agro-business sector through the use of the already established clusters.

According to HortiNigeria agribusiness coordinator, Mr Danjuma Makama, the training will also facilitate networking opportunities that would allow agro-dealers to connect with their peers and share experiences.

“Agribusiness clusters are being established in collaboration with actors across the various nodes of the value chain and the program provides the key players with the tools and knowledge they need to effectively operate a more productive, sustainable and resilient agricultural sector,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Malam Shehu Abu stated that the training is timely as a lot of agro-dealers have been operating at the detriment of their chances to a healthy living, adding that participant will ensure that they have passed down what they learned during the training to the rest of agro-dealers across their clusters.
