3 farmers killed in Benue

Three farmers have been reportedly killed by armed invaders in Odugbo community of Apa LGA in Benue State.

Our correspondent reports that the latest killing of the farmers, which happened on Tuesday, was one among several invasions, that had sacked many communities of Apa in recent times.

A youth leader simply identified as, Adakole, said that the deceased were attacked and killed on Tuesday by their assailants on their farms.

He said that another person was seriously wounded by the armed invaders and was rushed to hospital in Adoka but was further referred to Makurdi, the state capital. Eche Akpoko, a lawyer, who is the National Chairman of Apa Development Association, also confirmed that three farmers were killed on Tuesday in Odugbo.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Catherine Anene, when contacted on telephone, however, said she was not aware of the incident.
