3 Dead, 2 Injured In Kano Collapsed Building

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed the killing of three persons, as two others were injured following the collapse of a three-storey building under construction in Kuntau Quarters at Gwale local government area of Kano State.

The incident occured around 9:20am on Friday with the rubbles trapping several labourers and carpenters working at the construction site.

NEMA’s Kano Territorial Coordinator, Dr. Nuradeen Abdullahi, while confirming the incident, provided the details and the casualties to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

“So far, five persons were rescued and taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital. Out of which three were confirmed dead, while two victims sustained injury and are receiving treatment,” Abdullahi said.

He added that search and rescue operations are ongoing as responders work to rescue any remaining trapped individuals.

Teams from NEMA, the Kano State Fire Service, the police, Red Cross, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) are all collaborating at the scene to offer rescue operations.

The cause of the collapse is yet to be determined as at the time of this report.
