Zulum offers N500,000 support to Borno refugees in Cameroon

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has announced that his administration will provide N500,000 to every refugee displaced by Boko Haram who is willing to return home from Cameroon.

Zulum made the pledge on Monday while addressing Nigerian refugees at the Minawao camp in Cameroon’s Far North region.

He assured them that improved security measures had been established across Gwoza and other affected communities following years of intensified military operations and civilian security initiatives.

“The welfare of refugees, internally displaced persons, and returnees remains a priority for us,” the governor said.

He explained that the financial support forms part of the state’s broader humanitarian and development agenda aimed at rebuilding the lives of survivors of insurgency.

According to Zulum, returning refugees will receive N500,000 each, while women-led households will be given N100,000. The initiative, he said, is designed to help families begin reconstructing their homes and reintegrating into their communities.
