Zubimendi scores brace as Arsenal wallop Nottingham Forest 3-0

Martin Zubimendi struck twice as Arsenal cruised to a commanding 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest, spoiling Ange Postecoglou’s Premier League return.

Back in the dugout after his Tottenham dismissal, Postecoglou endured a nightmare start with his new club. Zubimendi opened the scoring on 32 minutes with a stunning 20-yard volley, setting the tone for a dominant Arsenal display.

Viktor Gyökeres doubled the lead just 46 seconds after the restart, before Zubimendi sealed the win with a clinical header 11 minutes from time.

The result gets Arsenal’s title challenge back on track following their 1-0 defeat to Liverpool before the international break. However, an apparent shoulder injury to captain Martin Ødegaard was the only blemish on an otherwise superb afternoon for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Forest’s poor record at the Emirates continued, their last away win at Arsenal came 36 years ago, and Postecoglou’s poor record in north London derbies remains intact. His new side nearly fell behind inside seven minutes, but Matz Sels denied Mikel Merino’s close-range effort.

Despite a growing injury list, Arteta will be thrilled with the control and quality his side displayed, led by Zubimendi, who delivered a man-of-the-match performance.
