Zamfara PDP Slams APC, Rejects Claims of Gov Lawal Sponsoring Bandits

The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fiercely denied accusations from the All Progressives Congress (APC) that Governor Dauda Lawal is funding banditry in the state, labeling the claims as baseless and hypocritical.

In a fiery statement released by PDP publicity secretary Haliru Andi, the party accused the APC of overseeing the “darkest years” of insecurity in Zamfara’s history.

“No political party in the history of Zamfara has done more damage to the state than the APC,” Andi declared.

He alleged that during the APC’s tenure, its leaders “openly dined and negotiated with bandits, granting them legitimacy while the people of Zamfara buried their loved ones.”

The PDP called it “laughable” that the APC, which it branded as the “architect of Zamfara’s insecurity,” is now feigning concern for residents suffering from ongoing banditry.

The PDP’s rebuttal comes in response to recent APC allegations linking Governor Lawal to the sponsorship of bandits, a claim the PDP dismissed as a desperate attempt to tarnish the governor’s reputation.

Andi emphasized that the Lawal administration has been working to address the state’s security challenges, contrasting this with what he described as the APC’s legacy of enabling criminality through direct engagements with bandits.

Zamfara has been plagued by rampant banditry for years, with communities facing kidnappings, killings, and displacement.

The PDP’s statement accuses the APC of exacerbating the crisis during its time in power, leaving residents to bear the consequences.

The party urged the public to reject the APC’s “propaganda” and focus on efforts to restore peace and stability in the state.
