The Yobe state chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has expressed profound sorrow and shock at the passing of its beloved Treasurer, Lady Penina Jeje Ali.
In a statement, chairman of the chapter said, “As the only female member of SWAN in Yobe, Penina was known for her unwavering passion, dedication, and commitment to the association’s activities. Her contributions earned her the trust and respect of her male colleagues, leading to her election as Treasurer.
“On behalf of the entire SWAN Yobe chapter, I, Joel Duku, the Chairman, extend our heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of Penina, her friends, the Yobe NUJ, the Yobe Broadcasting Corporation, the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Yobe State, and all who mourn her loss.
“While we acknowledge that death is a part of life, we turn to our Creator for comfort during this difficult time. We pray for the peaceful repose of the soul of our dear sister, Penina.”
Penina, a dedicated staff of Yobe State Broadcasting Corporation (Radio Yobe), passed away at the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital, Damaturu, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, following a brief illness.
A family source has confirmed that her burial will take place on Friday, February 21, 2025, in her hometown of Potiskum.
