Residents of Yobe State have been advised to always check the expiry dates of food and drugs before consumption. Hon. Sa’idu Hassan, Yobe State Focal Person on Drug Abuse, emphasised the importance of this practice in preventing health hazards associated with consuming expired products.
According to Hassan, numerous cases of illnesses have been linked to the consumption of expired food items and drugs. He stressed that all consumable products have a specific shelf life, making it crucial for individuals to be vigilant about expiry dates.
The Yobe State Coordinator of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Alhaji Lawan Dadingel, echoed Hassan’s sentiments. Dadingel assured that NAFDAC is committed to ensuring that only safe and hygienic food and drug products are available for public consumption.
He also warned food and drug vendors to adhere strictly to regulatory standards and guidelines governing food production and distribution.
