Yobe: Police Record Notable Success In Fight Against Crime

DAMATURU – The Yobe State Police Command has announced significant achievements in its ongoing efforts to combat violent crime in the state.

According to a press release issued by the Command, through the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Dungus Abdulkarim revealed that several successful operations were carried out between February 12 and 15, 2025, resulting in the apprehension of suspects and recovery of stolen properties.

On February 15, 2025, the Tarmuwa Divisional Police Headquarters arrested two suspects, Bawa Saidu (22) and Weti Saleh (25), for conspiring and gang-raping a 12-year-old girl.

The victim received immediate medical attention, while the suspects were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

In a separate incident, the Gujba Divisional Police Headquarters collaborated with Vigilante to rescue a 15-year-old boy, Hassan Alh Yau, who was kidnapped on February 12, 2025. The successful rescue operation resulted in the recovery of dangerous weapons, including a single-barrel gun.

Additionally, the Police Command apprehended three suspects, including Sale Ahmadu, for using an uncompleted building in Damaturu to conceal stolen properties. The suspects were found in possession of a dismantled motorcycle and other stolen items, and they confessed to the crime during interrogation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, commended the efforts of the Command, reiterating its sustained commitment to fighting criminal elements in the state.
