Yobe education fund launches new projects amidst state-wide school inspections

The Yobe State Education Trust Fund (YETFund) has begun a new round of interventions to revitalise public schools, following an inspection tour of institutions in Yusufari, Karasuwa, and Machina Local Government Areas (LGAs).

The tour was conducted to identify the most pressing needs and ensure new projects are precisely targeted for maximum impact.

According to the Board of Trustees Chairman, Engr. Mohammed Kachallah Abubakar, the upcoming projects will focus on building and renovating classrooms, constructing water and sanitation facilities, providing essential furniture and equipment as well as teacher training and capacity-building.

Engr. Abubakar highlighted YETFund’s sustainable financial strategy.

The fund invests its capital, and only the returns are used for projects, Blueprint.ng reports.

“To date, interventions in 21 schools including boreholes, toilets, and furniture—have been financed solely from the proceeds of a ₦1.5 billion investment, leaving the principal amount intact for future use.

“This new initiative builds on YETFund’s previous successes, which have already led to renovated schools, improved learning environments, and increased student enrollment across several LGAs.

“The positive community response has encouraged the fund to scale up its efforts,” said Engr Abubakar.

The Chairman reiterated that these targeted projects are part of a broader mission to tackle systemic challenges in Yobe’s education sector and restore confidence in public schools.
