

Yobe state governor, Mai Mala Buni, presided over the swearing-in ceremony of several key appointees on Tuesday, charging them to be proactive and uphold the highest standards of integrity in their service to the state.
The newly sworn-in officials include Honorable Yerima Lawan Mahmoud as Commissioner for Livestock Development, Abdullahi Imusa Shehu as Head of Service, Special Advisors – Mohamed Bukar Abba Ibrahim and Yahaya Inuwa Barde, and Statistician General Abdirahman Malik.
Governor Buni stated that the ceremony was conducted to fulfill constitutional requirements, enabling the appointees to execute their duties legally, efficiently, and effectively.
Highlighting the significance of the new Ministry of Livestock Development, the governor noted that the state is a national leader in the sector.
He emphasised that the ministry’s creation was essential to boost production for both local consumption and economic export.
“I am optimistic that Honorable Yerima Lawan Mahmoud, a grassroots politician and distinguished public servant with over three decades of experience, has the prerequisite qualifications to apply his vast experience and make the new ministry a success,” Governor Buni said.
He also outlined his administration’s commitment to investing heavily in livestock development, citing plans for new veterinary clinics, water provision, fodder banks, and vaccination programs against transboundary diseases.
Turning to the new Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa Shehu, Governor Buni expressed confidence in his ability to galvanise the civil service.
The governor called on all new appointees to uphold their oaths of office and bring in fresh ideas to facilitate effective service delivery.
