Damaturu, Yobe State – The Yobe State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources has praised Governor Mai Mala Buni for his unwavering commitment to transforming the state’s agricultural sector. Under his leadership, Yobe State has witnessed unprecedented growth and development in agriculture, solidifying its position as a leading agricultural hub in the Northeast.
Governor Buni’s dedication to empowering farmers and promoting agricultural productivity has been remarkable. He has implemented various initiatives, including the distribution of multi-billion naira worth of agricultural equipment, improved seeds, agro-chemicals, and other essential inputs to farmers across the state. This has significantly enhanced food security and driven economic growth.
The Governor’s efforts have also been recognized nationally. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently launched Yobe State’s groundbreaking Agricultural Empowerment Programme, spearheaded by Governor Buni. This programme aims to transform agriculture from subsistence to commercial and mechanized farming, ensuring food security and economic prosperity.
Under the leadership of Commissioner Ali Mustapha Goniri, the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources has made significant strides in enhancing agricultural development. Notable achievements include the procurement of 40 additional brand new Massey Ferguson tractors to boost food production and the empowerment of farmers through improved seeds, agro-chemicals, and other essential inputs.
In line with the ministry’s efforts to enhance extension service delivery, a two-day training program for extension workers was recently concluded. Each extension agent was given a motorcycle to facilitate their work and enhance their mobility, underscoring Governor Buni’s commitment to empowering extension agents and ensuring agricultural productivity.
