Speaking in Hausa on Wednesday in Bauchi State during a three-day prayer session organised in honour of the revered cleric, Bello recalled his long-standing personal relationship with Sheikh Dahiru. He noted that during his time as governor, he hosted the scholar in Kogi State on multiple occasions, during which the Sheikh consistently prayed for the peace, unity, and progress of both Kogi and Nigeria.

Bello said Sheikh Dahiru’s teachings championed peaceful coexistence, compassion for the less privileged, moral uprightness, and strict adherence to Islamic principles rooted in love and tolerance. He described the cleric’s passing as a monumental loss not just to the Muslim Ummah but to the entire nation, given his tireless advocacy for harmony, stability, and mutual respect.

The former governor attended the prayer session alongside Senator Abubakar Ohere, Abubakar Rajab, his former Deputy Chief of Staff Isah Omade, Sheikh Abdulkudus and other dignitaries. They were received by the Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Auwal Jatau, who represented the state government.

Also speaking at the event, the Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness Dr. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, urged Muslims to emulate the enduring virtues of Sheikh Dahiru.
