Xavi desperate for Manchester United job as Amorim faces mounting pressure

Former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez is reportedly keen on the Manchester United role, should current head coach Ruben Amorim be dismissed.

The Spaniard has been out of work since leaving Barcelona at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Xavi, who previously managed Al-Sadd and Barcelona, took a sabbatical after his Camp Nou exit but is now open to a return.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, he is closely monitoring the Premier League and would accept the Old Trafford job “immediately,” even without European football.

United continue to back Amorim

Despite mounting pressure after a poor start to the season, Manchester United’s hierarchy remain supportive of Amorim, who has been in charge for less than a year.

However, failure to improve results could force the club to consider alternatives.

Other interest in Xavi

Alongside United, Xavi has also been linked with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, who are seeking a replacement for the recently-sacked Laurent Blanc.

Former AC Milan coach Sergio Conceição is another candidate for the role.

Next step in career

Xavi views Manchester United as the ideal challenge for the next stage of his managerial career.

For now, his future remains uncertain, as he awaits the right opportunity to return to the dugout.
