An Ogun State Magistrate Court sitting in Ago-Iwoye has remanded of 29-year-old Idris Mariam, for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy (name withheld) in Muslim High School Area of Ago-Iwoye.
Mariam had unlawful sexual intercourse with the survivor eight times, since December 23, 2024, in her room.
This was contained in statement signed and made available to DAILY POST by the spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) Ogun State command, Dyke Ogbonnaya, on Tuesday.
Ogbonnaya disclosed that the incident was reported to the command by the survivor’s mother.
He stated that the defendant, charged under Section 32 of the Child Rights Law of Ogun State, Nigeria 2006, was remanded at the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Ijebu-Ode, for 60 days.
Ogbonnaya said, ”The survivor, in the course of investigation, opened up that the defendant has been having these sexual assault with him since December 23, 2024 for successive eight times.
“After the completion of investigation, a motion for ex parte to remand the defendant at the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Ijebu-Ode, for 60 days was filed by the legal team of the State Command at Ago-Iwoye Magisterial Court.”
The command spokesperson noted that prayer of the Corps to remand the defendant was granted by the court under His Worship O.F Adeduntan (Mrs).
The statement added that a duplicate case file has been forwarded to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP), Ogun State Ministry of Justice, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, for legal advice.
Meanwhile, the Corps State Commandant, Remilekun Ekundayo, has issued a warning against indecent behavior and all forms of inhumane treatment, emphasising that such will not be tolerated in the state.
