Woman docked over alleged threat to life

A 33-year-old trader, Seifunmi Akinnusi, on Friday appeared in an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State over threat to life of Jumoke Akinmusere

The defendant, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge bordering on felony and threat to life.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the defendant and two others still at large on Jan. 12, at Sabo area in Okitipupa, Okitipupa magisterial district conspired to commit felony.

He said the defendant and others at large threatened the life of the complainant for failing to supply her 10 kegs of palm oil on the agreed time after N400, 000 payment.

Orogbemi said that they also threatened to destroy the complainant’s palm oil depot and her business.

He said the defendant committed offences contrary and punishable under Sections 516 and 86, Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against her.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Olanrewaju Adelegan, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000, and one surety in like sum.

He added that the surety, who must be resident within the court jurisdiction, must show and present evidence of two years tax payment made to the state government.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Adelegan adjourned the case until February 24 for further hearing.
