Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed a deal in principle to sign Tolu Arokodare from Genk for €27m, with the Nigerian striker expected to undergo a medical on Saturday (today).

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League side signed an agreement with the Belgian club on Friday night, with the medical planned for Saturday.

“EXCLUSIVE: Wolves agree deal in principle to sign Tolu Arokodare as new striker from Genk, here we go! €27m fee agreed with Genk tonight and medical booked on Saturday for #WWFC new striker,” Romano wrote on social media.

The 23-year-old striker had been in talks with Wolves amid renewed interest from AC Milan, who had turned their attention to Arokodare after hitting a wall in their pursuit of Sporting CP’s Conrad Harder.

Arokodare finished as the top scorer in the Belgian top-flight last season with 23 goals and provided an additional seven assists in 45 games across all competitions.

His transfer situation had reduced his involvement with Genk this season, with the forward dropping in the pecking order and managing only substitute appearances in five games across all competitions.

Genk sporting director Dimitri De Condé had previously estimated the chance of Arokodare’s departure at “99 per cent,” saying the striker was “very well in the market and is also ready to take the next step.”

The deal represents a significant addition for Wolves as they look to strengthen their attacking options in the Premier League.
