ABUJA – The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has pledged the full support of the FCT Administration to the family of the late Head of Service, Mrs Grace Adayilo, who passed away on September 1, 2025.

Speaking during a condolence visit to the family in Abuja on Tuesday, September 2, Wike described the death of Mrs Adayilo as a shocking and painful loss.

“I thought I was going to enjoy her tenure extension; I didn’t know that death had other plans. But God knows best,” the Minister said, recalling that he had personally sought presidential approval to extend her service because of her dedication and hard work.

Wike, visibly moved, hailed the late Head of Service as “a dedicated and committed public servant, a true Christian and a woman you can rely on.”

He recounted how he was advised to consider her for the position because of her reputation for diligence and integrity.

Assuring the grieving family of the FCT Administration’s support, the Minister vowed to cover all burial expenses and provide immediate employment opportunities for Mrs. Adayilo’s children if they were not already engaged.

“I’ve come here to identify with you and to say that the FCT Administration will continue to identify with her family. We are going to support you as necessary… every of the burial expenses, the FCT will take care of it,” Wike said.

Addressing the unpredictability of life, the Minister added: “Nobody knows the day that death will come; nobody gives you notice for you to prepare.”

Responding on behalf of the family, Bishop Jonathan expressed deep appreciation for the Minister’s support, describing Mrs. Adayilo as “a true mother and philanthropist,” fondly known as Mama Africa for her devotion to mentoring orphans, widows, and the less privileged.

He also commended Wike’s leadership in the FCT, saying: “This is the first time we are feeling the impact of governance in the FCT. Thank you, Honourable Minister, for coming to our home. We can’t thank you enough, but we ask that God Almighty bless you.”

The Minister later signed the condolence register and joined the family in prayers for the repose of the soul of Mrs. Adayilo.
