Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr Nyesom Wike, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for lifting the emergency rule in Rivers State, describing the move as a bold step that restored democratic governance and safeguarded peace in the state.

In a statement issued Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike said the President’s intervention has rekindled the confidence of Rivers people in his leadership and reaffirmed his commitment to the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria.

He praised residents of Rivers State for their unwavering belief in President Tinubu and their continued support for his administration’s drive to reposition the nation on the path of progress and development.

Calling on political stakeholders in the state to put aside differences and work in harmony, the Minister stressed that Rivers’ collective interest must remain paramount.

Wike also warned against attempts by “fifth columnists” to exploit tensions, insisting that going forward, “the only news that will emanate from Rivers State will be that of peace, progress, and development.”
