The Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a 25- year-old woman, Salamatu Danjuma, for allegedly stabbing her husband to death following disagreement over the custody of her six years old daughter.
The incident reportedly occurred at Nadabo village in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement, said preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had been facing marital challenges regarding the custody of Salamatu’s six-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

He said, ‘’Contrary to initial discussion with the new husband accepting the child into his house, the husband later refused, which heightened tensions between them.’’
Wakil explained that the situation escalated when Salamatu, feeling cornered by her husband’s refusal and in a moment of heated argument, used a knife from their bedroom to stab his husband.
Responding to a distress call, the police deployed detectives from the Bununu Police Divisional Headquarters to the scene, adding that the operatives evacuated the victim to a cottage hospital in Bununu.
He added, ‘’But unfortunately, a medical staff confirmed his death due to the injuries he sustained.’’
Wakil added that the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, had directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough and discreet inquiry into the matter.
