Kano lawmaker Abdulmumin Jibrin has revealed how his bid to reconcile former governors Abdullahi Ganduje and Rabiu Kwankwaso collapsed despite his push for unity.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chieftain said only Ganduje and Kwankwaso can settle their rift.
He noted that Ganduje also served as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Kwankwaso was the NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate.

He explained that even though Ganduje had previously insulted him, he still tried to mediate peace between the two political heavyweights for the sake of Kano and the country.
According to him, his intervention was consistent with his long-standing advocacy for unity and stability.
“Everyone knows that I have always advocated, even right from the beginning of the government, for national unity and I never stopped at that,” Jibrin said.
“I felt insulted myself by Ganduje, everybody knew what happened, but I still tried to ensure that there was some sort of peace between him and Kwankwaso.
“I did my best but I believe that it’s in their own mutual interest, and at the end of the day, it’s the decision of Ganduje and Kwankwaso to decide about it.”
