Amid spiraling controversy, Nigerian media personality, Chinedu Ani, better known as Nedu Wazobia, has debunked the reports that he was fired as a host of the popular podcast, The Honest Bunch.

Speaking during a recent media event, Nedu addressed the speculation and clarified his decision to step away from the show, emphasising that it was his personal choice and not a forced removal.

“First of all, I heard that I was hospitalized. I don’t know where that came from. I am hale and hearty. I am not in the hospital. However, when a guest comes to Honest Bunch Podcast, we make them feel comfortable. We don’t stop guests or control their conversations. It is not professional. I can’t shut down guests while airing their opinions. Every opinion shared on the platform is the opinion of the guest not of the show itself. So, everyone has the right to an opinion and the right to report. Let me also straighten something out: I was not fired from the honest bunch; I was never fired. I decided to step away when the attacks became very personal. I did that, so the show could go on.”

This comes amid reports that followed VeryDarkMan’s claims that Nedu requested sex for movie roles from women. He also claimed that he was going to release the names of all the celebrities Nedu had allegedly slept with in exchange for roles. VeryDarkMan’s claims opened Pandora’s box of other accusations and speculations regarding the comedian.

In reaction, Nedu said, “A lot of things have been going on left, right and centre, but I am going to say this: I am not one to indulge in petty exchanges of words; that’s not who I am. It has never been my style and it would never be my style to jab words with people on social media.”
