Veteran gospel singer and broadcaster Yinka Ayefele has expressed deep concern over the recurring tragedies in his life that seem to happen particularly in August.
Speaking during an appreciation note to his supporters on his radio station after a recent fire incident that gutted Fresh FM 105.9 and Blast FM 98.3 radio stations in Ibadan, Ayefele questioned why most of his heartbreaking experiences were tied to the same month.
The singer recalled losing his immediate younger brother, Oluwole Ayefele, who was then the leader of the anti-robbery squad in Ore, in a fatal accident on August 2.
He also recounted how his renowned Music House in Ibadan was demolished on August 19, seven years ago, and most recently, how another fire ravaged his radio stations on August 15, 2025.
“There is something I don’t understand. Some years ago, my immediate younger brother… had an accident and d!ed on August 2. Also, seven years ago on August 19, my music house was demolished. Now on August 15, 2025, my music house caught fire. It was the men of God who came to pray for me that called my attention to this. Why always August? I don’t know what is going on,” he lamented.
Despite his concerns, Ayefele expressed gratitude to God and to well-wishers who have stood by him during these difficult times, noting that their support continues to give him strength.
