Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler believes Danny Welbeck deserves a place in Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions England squad.
The former Manchester United and Arsenal ace has not earned an international cap since the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where he came off the bench in England’s final group match against Belgium.
Despite that seven-year gap, steam is building behind the veteran becoming a contender for a call-up.
The 34-year-old striker is in the form of his life at Brighton, scoring six goals in his ten Premier League games so far, including the opener in their 3-0 win over Leeds on Saturday (November 1).

Speaking with the club’s website, Hurzeler believes the former Manchester United forward is deserving of a place in Thomas Tuchel’s next England squad.
“I have a big belief that Danny Welbeck is able to play for England,” he said.
“I asked the question of the squad if they think Danny Welbeck and play for England and they all agreed, so that was the only time we mentioned it. Let’s see what happens.
“But I will try to emphasise that England has a great coach and he will make the right decisions.”
