We’re One, Says Edo First Lady

BENIN – The Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady of Edo State, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has reiterated the importance of unity and its benefits when she met with representatives of the Afemai Women in Politics at the Government House in Benin City.

While addressing her guests, Mrs. Anani emphasized on oneness as a key aspect of her advocacy, highlighting the importance of harmony as a unifying force that brings people together, regardless of their ethnic backgrounds, to achieve a common goal.

Mrs. Anani also stressed that unity is a fundamental aspect of the Edo people’s identity, saying, ‘We Edos are one, and it doesn’t matter whether we are from the North, South, or Central; we are one body.’ She also praised Governor Monday Okpebholo as a team player who is committed to carrying everyone along, ensuring that no senatorial district is left behind during his tenure.

Mrs. Anani further emphasized the importance of building a supportive community where women uplift and empower each other. She also highlighted the need for a ‘Community of Sisterhood’ where women raise and support one another, emphasizing that empowering women is a top priority.

In her speech, the Leader of the delegation, Princess Awa Loveth Ewere, expressed her appreciation for the First Lady’s hard work and leadership, stating that Afemai Women in Politics is committed to supporting her office in advancing women’s empowerment in the State.

‘We appreciate your hard work and resilience. We have confidence in your leadership, and we are here to express our commitment to partnering with your office. Afemai Women in Politics will give you the necessary support to advance women’s empowerment in the State.’
