All is set for Nigeria to host the 20th General Assembly of the World Council of Civil Engineers (WCCE) from 24 to 25th September 2025 at the Nigerian Army Conference Centre and Suites (NACCAS), Abuja.
The event, holding for the first time in Nigeria, promises to bring together global leaders in civil engineering, policymakers, academics, and industry experts under the theme:
“Artificial Intelligence, Data and Design: Reimagining Civil Engineering for a Connected World.”
The Assembly will examine how artificial intelligence, big data, and innovative design tools are reshaping infrastructure delivery worldwide, while providing a platform for engineers in Africa to showcase their expertise and strengthen collaboration with international partners.
According to Engr. Dr.Aishatu Aliyu Umar, African Continental Representative of WCCE and Chairman of the Planning Committee:
“This Assembly is not just a gathering of engineers, it is a global conversation on how technology and innovation can transform the way we design, build, and sustain infrastructure. Hosting this event in Abuja provides Nigeria a unique opportunity to project its leadership in civil engineering within Africa and beyond.”
Engr. Oscar Alberto Sánchez Zúñiga, President, WCCE, expressed excitement for being in Nigeria for the event highlighted the choice of Nigeria to host the event as deliberate considering the growing influence of Nigerian Civil Engineering professionals in the African continent as well as the need to enshrine artificial intelligence in the deployment of projects as a global practice.
