Wales hooker Lake called up to Six Nations squad

Wales hooker Dewi Lake has been called into the Six Nations squad after recovering from a bicep injury.

Lake missed the first three defeats of the tournament but his inclusion takes Matt Sherratt's squad to 38 players before the trip to face Scotland at Murrayfield on 8 March and the visit of England seven days later.

The 25-year-old captained Wales during the 2024 summer tour of Australia and the autumn internationals but has not played in the Six Nations since 2022 because of his injury.

Lake is now one of four hookers alongside Ospreys team-mate Sam Parry, Elliot Dee and Evan Lloyd.

Wales have released Ospreys trio Dan Edwards, Parry and Ben Warren, Scarlets pair Joe Roberts and Taine Plumtree and Cardiff scrum-half Ellis Bevan to play for their regions in the United Rugby Championship (URC) this weekend.

Matt Sherratt's squad will also see 13 players returning to French and English clubs this week; Racing 92 lock Will Rowlands and Gallagher Premiership players Max Llewellyn, Gareth Anscombe, Josh Hathaway, Freddie Thomas, Tomos Williams, Dafydd Jenkins, Will GriffJohn, Tommy Reffell, Nicky Smith, Will Rowlands, Christ Tshiunza, Jarrod Evans and Nick Tompkins.
