WACN partners Kainji Lake National Park to protect biodiversity

The West African Conservation Network (WACN) has partnered Kainji Lake National Park (KLNP), Niger/Kwara states to protect biodiversity.

Speaking during a recent familiarisation visit by WACN at Kainji National Park, the Acting Conservator of Park (CP) for Kainji, Saleh Musa, said WACN’s visit was long awaited.

He stated that it would go a long way in protecting biodiversity and added that Kainji Lake National Park is a large area of land that cuts across two states, with the Borgu sector of the park straddling the Niger and Kwara states. 

The sector also cuts across five local government areas located within the two states.

 The CP further stated that KLNP covers a landmass of 5400.82 square kilometres, adding that the coming of WACN to Kainji Lake National Park would assist in protecting the biodiversity within the park.

He noted that so many areas in which KLNP needs intervention, which include; anti-poaching patrol, and shortage of logistics among others.
