Voter Registration Resumes Nationwide: INEC Highlights Key Points


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially commenced the in-person Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise nationwide, following the launch of online pre-registration on August 18, 2025. The physical registration began today, Monday, August 25, 2025.

According to a notice posted on the Commission’s official X handle, in-person registration will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, at all INEC local government offices and other designated registration centres across the country.

The Commission emphasized that the exercise is open to new voters who have attained the age of 18, individuals who have never registered before, and those seeking to replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs).

In addition, INEC highlighted that voters wishing to transfer their registration to new locations, update personal information, or correct errors on their PVCs can also complete these processes during the exercise.

INEC further reminded citizens that online pre-registration had begun on August 18, 2025, via its official portal. Nigerians who have completed the online process are advised to visit their respective state or local government offices to finalize their registration.

The Commission urged all eligible citizens not to miss the opportunity to register, emphasizing that voter registration is the essential first step to ensuring their participation in the democratic process.
