Two female journalists with Jay FM in Jos, Plateau State, were reportedly arrested by security operatives on Saturday over a viral video showing a confrontation between a cleric and security personnel during the funeral service of the mother of All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.

According to a statement posted on Jay FM’s official Facebook page, the journalists — Ruth Marcus and Keshia Jang went missing after being taken away by security agents.

The station said it had been unable to determine which agency was holding them or their location at the time.

The duo had gone to the COCIN Headquarters Church in Jos to cover the funeral service when the incident occurred. They reportedly filmed the altercation and shared the footage on the station’s social media platforms, where it quickly went viral.

“Shortly after the video was posted, security agents swooped on the journalists and whisked them to an unknown destination,” Jay FM said, adding that its management was making efforts to locate them.

The station also maintained that it stood by its decision to publish the video.

However, following public outrage and pressure from the public, the Department of State Services (DSS) released the two journalists on Saturday night.
