Victims Of Job Scam Protest In Ondo – Independent Newspaper Nigeria

AKURE – Some persons, who ignorantly paid to a syndicate during teachers’ recruitment exercise organised by the Ondo State Government, on Friday protested at the Governor’s Office at Alagbaka, Akure, the State capital.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, disclosed this while reacting to the allegation by the protesters that they were issues fake employment letters.

The protesters had alleged that during the recent recruitment of teachers into public primary and secondary schools in all the 18 local government areas by the state government, they were issued appointment letters.

In attempt to proceed on the last stage of the recruitment process, where they were expected to do biometric capturing, they were denied access by officials of the state government.

One for the protesters, who simply identified himself as Ola, said he and other protesters applied for teaching job when the state government advertised recruitment of teachers into both primary and secondary schools.

He said employment letters were issued to them, but when they wanted to do capturing, which is part of the recruitment process, the officials of the state government didn’t give them a cess.
.
Ola said: “We were not allowed to do capturing by the officials of SUBEB (Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board). They said we are not having a genuine appointment letter. We want to appeal to the governor to intervene in this matter.”

Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor stated that the protesters fell victim of scammers, who issued them dud appointment letters unknown to unsuspecting applicants.

He said those who were genuinely recruited by the state government had been issued appointment letters and deployed to their various duty posts where they had assumed duty.

Adeniyan, therefore, said that “People should please note that those who protested are not teachers, but applicants who were duped by some individuals during the recruitment process.

“They all paid money to scammers who issued them fake letters of appointment.

“Those legitimately recruited by the government have been absorbed and have started working.”
