Members of the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ) in Kwara led by their Chairman, Alhaji Tunde Akanbi, on Friday attended the wake of the late former governor of the state, Chief Cornelius Adebayo.
The solemn event held at the Kwara State Banquet Hall in Ilorin and attracted dignitaries who came to celebrate the life and times of the late elder statesman.
Paying tributes, Akanbi described Adebayo as a visionary leader, statesman and lover of peace whose contributions to governance and education left an indelible mark on the state and Nigeria at large.
He noted that Adebayo’s life was a testament to integrity, service, and commitment to public good and values, which continue to inspire younger generations of leaders and journalists alike.
Akanbi also said that the former governor was a bridge-builder and man of principle who used every opportunity in public service to promote unity and development.
Other members of the veteran journalists’ league who attended the ceremony expressed their condolences to the Adebayo family and prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.
The wake featured tributes, hymns, and reflections on the exemplary life of Adebayo who was widely admired for his humility, discipline and dedication to the progress of the state.(NAN) (www.nan.ng)
