Uzodimma Leads APC Governors on Sympathy Visit to Kebbi Over Abducted Schoolgirls

The Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) on Thursday pledged total support to the Kebbi State Government and the families of the students abducted from the Federal Government College (Comprehensive Girls Secondary School), Maga, in Zuru Emirate, assuring that the girls will be brought back safely.

Leading a high-powered delegation of APC governors on a solidarity visit to Kebbi State, PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, described the attack as “painful, tragic and totally unacceptable.”

“We are here to condole with the government and people of Kebbi State over this tragic incident. In the past, we only heard of such dastardly school attacks outside Nigeria and Africa. It is heartbreaking that it has now happened here in Kebbi,” Uzodimma said.

He condemned the abduction in strong terms and reiterated the unwavering support of all APC governors for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the fight against insecurity.“As Progressive Governors, we stand firmly behind Mr. President in his determination to strengthen national security and put an end to this ugly trend.

“When one part of the country bleeds, the entire nation bleeds. An injury to one is an injury to all,” he stressed.

Uzodimma urged security agencies to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice, while commending the Tinubu administration for stabilising the economy and increasing federation revenues in the last two and a half years.

Receiving the delegation, Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, expressed profound gratitude for the visit and revealed that President Tinubu had personally assured him that the Federal Government would spare no effort in securing the safe return of the abducted students.

“We have directed Islamic and Christian clerics across the state to intensify prayers for the safe rescue of our daughters and for lasting peace in Kebbi and Nigeria,” Governor Idris added.

The PGF delegation included Governors Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Ahmed Usman-Ododo (Kogi), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), and Nasarawa State Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe.

Also in attendance were Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Tanko Sununu; Senator Bala Ibn-Na’Allah; and federal lawmakers representing Kebbi constituencies, among other dignitaries.
