Uzodimma launches Imo land information service centre

Imo governor state, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has opened a state of-the-art Imo Land Information Service Centre located close to the Ministry of Lands in the premises of Imo State Secretariat, Owerri.

While addressing Imolites Wednesday, he made it clear that with its establishment, the era of land stealing and abuses are gone, as original owners of all lands in the state and their original certificates have been taken care of with the digitization process undergone by his government, thereby instituting ease of doing business.

He also said with the relevant code, “one can stay in his house, office or use phone  or computer to ascertain ownership of a particular land in the state” , and that ” if it is yours, it is yours. And if you submit your title document to the bank, they will know”.

While commending members of the Imo Assembly for their imput in the realization of the project, he made it clear that his target was to make the state an envy of other states which was why he has embarked on rapid transformation of the state.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Lands, Hon Barr Enyinna Onuegbu said with the launch, Imo has joined the league of states that have digitized their land processes, like Lagos, Abuja and Enugu, adding that his ministry was able to repackage all the original certificates of occupancies in  boxes in line with the digitization process. While thanking the governor for his wisdom in establishing it, he assured Imolites that there would be no more land abuses as land acquisition and certification have been digitized.

The Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Barr. Rex Anunobi  who also benefited from the digitization process, thanked the governor for bringing to an end the issue of fraud or vices associated with lands, adding that the governor has  equally transformed education, health and even  his ministry where he has digitized the market proceses, improving on their general infrastructure. He said “with what he has done, one can stay in the confines of his home and ascertain the status of his land.”

Barr. Anunobi, who also heads Orlu Political Consultative Assembly(OPOCA) said the transformational spirit of the governor has made him to work to ensure steady power supply in the state and seized the opportunity  to reiterate the  warning  issued to Enugu Electricity Distribution Company(EEDC) to cooperate with the governor in his effort to light up the state  through the state owned Orashi Distribution Agency or close shop as all the equipment used by them are not theirs but either donated by government, communities or people from the state.
