UUC Election: Udu Youth Leaders Purchase Presidential Form For Emaduku

1 week ago 26

Youth leaders from the 32 communities in Udu, under the aegis of the Udu Communities Youth Leaders Forum, have purchased a nomination form for Olorogun Austin Emaduku to contest the position of President General.

During a presentation ceremony held in Egini town, Udu Local Government Area, Delta State, Mr. Kelvin Kpomah spoke on behalf of the youth leaders, highlighting that the forum consists of representatives from all 32 communities that make up Udu Kingdom.

Kpomah expressed their commitment to the growth of Udu Kingdom, stating that they believe Olorogun Austin Emaduku is eminently qualified for the role; hence, they decided to support him by purchasing the form for him to contest the position of President General of the UUC.

“The electoral process for the Union of Udu Communities is already underway, with the sale of nomination forms and the upcoming screening process. As the Udu Communities Youth Leaders Forum, we believe it is important to rally behind Olorogun Austin Emaduku. Today, we present this purchased form to him on behalf of all the leaders and concerned citizens of Udu, both at home and in the diaspora, who desire progress and unity within our Kingdom.”

Kpomah continued, saying, “By the grace of God, we believe he is well-suited to contest for the position of President General. Together, we resolve to support him wholeheartedly, and we trust that victory will be achieved.”

He also expressed confidence in the interim chairman of the UUC, Olorogun Peter Uviejitobor, and his committee, expressing hope that they will adhere to the election guidelines and procedures.

“We condemn any form of disenfranchisement and assert that any qualified Udu citizen should be allowed to contest in the election,” said Kpomah.

In response, Olorogun Austin Emaduku expressed his gratitude for the support from the youth leaders. “I am truly humbled by your gesture,” he said.

He acknowledged the complexities of the electoral process and reflected on previous challenges, mentioning how he had received overwhelming support during his first attempt but faced crises before the Delta State Government intervened.

“I initially hesitated to enter the race again,” Emaduku noted. “However, the fact that young leaders like you are willing to invest your hard-earned money to secure this form for me has inspired me to accept the challenge. It would be a disappointment to you and many other well-meaning Udu indigenes if I chose not to run,” he added.

Emaduku emphasized his desire to be a candidate chosen by the people, not an imposed one. “I want to be a candidate who earns acceptance through the electoral process. As outlined in the electoral guidelines, everyone is free to contest. Hon. Peter Uviejitobor, as the chairman of the interim committee, has assured us that the election will be conducted fairly.”

He promised, “If elected, I will not disappoint you. I aspire to build on the milestones we achieved during the past reign and collaborate with His Royal Majesty, the Ovie of Udu Kingdom, as well as the local government council chairman, community leaders, and all citizens to foster unity in Udu. Our kingdom stands to gain significantly from our collective strength and cooperation.”

Emaduku also took the opportunity to thank His Royal Majesty for his support and leadership in the organization of the Udu traditional council and for endorsing the forthcoming election.
