A Chief Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, has jailed one ‘Professor’ Jide Josiah Jisos six months over impersonation during the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.

This is contained in a statement by the spokesman of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Fabian Benjamin on Sunday in Abuja.

According to the statement, officials of the Board arrested ‘Prof.’ Jisos, while monitoring the 2019 UTME at Brix Academy in Abuja.

Jisos was said to have presented himself to JAMB examination officials as a representative of a Non-Governmental Organization, NGO, claiming he was there to oversee the examination.

Upon interrogation, luck ran out of him when his deception was uncovered by the leader of the monitoring team in the examination hall.

Not being able to substantiate his claims, Jisos was arrested and handed over to security personnel for further investigation.

He later confessed not being affiliated with any NGO, adding that he was in the examination hall to assist his daughter taking the 2019 UTME.

He was, however, convicted on October 24, 2024.

The Chief Magistrate, Justice Folashade Oyekan found Jisos guilty of a one-count charge of impersonation and sentenced him to six months in prison, with an option of a N100,000 fine.
