Apparently reacting to the suspension of foreign aid to African countries by the U.S. President, Donald Trump, President Bola Tinubu has said he likes what is happening across the world.
Trump in an executive order, halted the operation of the US Agency for International Development, USAID, affecting most African countries, including Nigeria.
In Nigeria, the USAID had prior to Trump’s order, focused on economic growth, food security, governance, health, gender equality, stability in conflict-affected areas and renewable energy.
Nigeria is 6th among the top countries that are the highest beneficiaries of USAID.
The suspension had sparked concerns across the nation.
Speaking on Tuesday at the All Progressives Congress, APC, national caucus meeting at the States House, Abuja, Tinubu said what is happening across the world is a lesson to Nigeria and other African countries.
According to him, it is a lesson for the African countries to build themselves and help the continent to grow.
He said, “I like what is happening around the world, if anything, it is teaching a lesson that we particularly Nigerians and the great African continent can build ourselves and help Africa to grow”.
