The United States announced on Friday that it would revoke Colombian President Gustavo Petro’s visa after he joined a pro-Palestinian demonstration in New York and openly urged American soldiers to defy President Donald Trump’s orders.

Petro, speaking to hundreds of protesters outside the UN headquarters in Manhattan, called for the creation of a global armed force to prioritize the liberation of Palestinians.

“This force has to be bigger than that of the United States. Disobey the orders of Trump. Obey the orders of humanity,” he declared.

In a statement posted on X, the US State Department described Petro’s remarks as “reckless and incendiary,” confirming that his visa would be revoked.

The rally also featured musician Roger Waters, who joined Petro in addressing the demonstrators. The Colombian leader’s comments have added further strain to already tense relations between Washington and Bogota.
