The United States has donated $32.5 million to tackle Nigeria’s hunger crisis.
The donation targets internally displaced individuals in conflict-affected areas of the North-East and North-West regions.
Specifically, 43,235 children will receive specialized nutrition support through electronic food vouchers, and 41,569 pregnant and breastfeeding women will receive complementary nutrition top-ups.
According to the World Food Programme (WFP), ongoing violence and funding shortages may lead to the closure of over 150 nutrition clinics in Borno and Yobe states, as Nigeria faces one of the worst food emergencies in decades.
