US election: Republican wins back control of Senate

3 weeks ago 29

Republicans have won back control of the Senate after four years in the minority, Reuters reports.

The development has positioned the party to play a massive role in nominations and in looming policy battles.

This is regardless of whether former President Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris emerges victorious in the presidential race.

The Fox News also reports that the party will hold at least 51 seats, enough for an outright majority.

It’s not yet clear who will serve as the next Senate majority leader.

Republican leader, Mitch McConnell, who is the longest serving Senate leader in history, announced earlier this year that he would step down.
