UNILAG, LASU, UniAbuja… JAMB names varsities yet to submit 2025 underage candidates for vetting

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has
extended the deadline for the submission of Post-UTME screening scores for
underage candidates who took the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation
Examination.

This decision, JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin said on
Thursday, was made in collaboration with the affected universities.

JAMB noted that up to 23 out of the 71 institutions had
failed to submit the Post-UTME scores of the candidates for final assessment by
the initial deadline of September 15, as agreed.

The schools yet to comply, Benjamin said, are among the
universities chosen by the candidates for admission.

In emails sent to the defaulting universities, the board
urged them to submit their scores without delay.

JAMB also called on all public universities to submit their
recommended candidates on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) by
September 30.

Private universities, it said, have until October 31 to
submit their recommendations.

This, it added, is to ensure that the final admission
deadlines of October 30 for public universities and November 30 for private
universities are met.

In August 2025, JAMB disclosed that it would begin screening for over
500 exceptional admission-seeking candidates under 16 years of age for the
2025/2026 academic session between September 22 and 26.

The exercise, it said, would be conducted by a special
technical committee set up by JAMB.

Ishaq Oloyede, registrar of JAMB, said three venues had been
selected for the screening: Lagos, Abuja, and Owerri.

He noted that out of 41,027 underage candidates who sat for
the 2025 UTME, more than 40,000 did not scale the first hurdle.

The screening, Oloyede added, is to ensure that only
exceptional and well-prepared underage candidates gain admission.
