The National President of the Niger Delta Youth for Good Governance (NDYFGG), Lucky Ukueku, has praised President Bola Tinubu for granting presidential pardon to Kelvin Oniarah, Lucky Ezigbe and others who had served jail terms for various offences.

In a statement issued in Abuja over the weekend, Ukueku described the pardon as an act of compassion, saying it reflected the President’s humaneness and reform-minded leadership.

He also commended Eshanekpe Israel, popularly known as Mayor Akpodoro, for his role in advocating clemency for the ex-convicts.

Ukueku said Akpodoro had championed the call for Oniarah’s release for more than a decade, using his influence and resources to secure the freedom of Urhobo natives held in correctional facilities.

According to him, Akpodoro’s efforts demonstrated a deep commitment to the Urhobo cause and stood out as an example of community leadership.

President Tinubu had, during his Independence Day broadcast, announced clemency for some inmates who had shown remorse and made efforts toward rehabilitation, including the two Urhobo men.

Ukueku said the President’s gesture would help reintegrate the beneficiaries into society and encourage them to contribute meaningfully to national development.

He described the Tinubu administration as one that “wears a human face,” adding that its reform agenda was touching all aspects of national life.

Ukueku also urged Urhobo youths to emulate Akpodoro’s leadership and support efforts to promote peace and development in their communities.
