UEFA Champions League: Bayern edge past Celtic, Atalanta fall as Feyenoord pip Milan in play-off first leg

1 week ago 22

Bayern Munich earned a 2-1 win at Celtic in their Champions League play-off first leg on Wednesday night.

The Bundesliga champions had to wait until the end of the first half to take the lead, thanks to Michael Olise’s sublime effort.

Harry Kane doubled their advantage four minutes after the break, to give Bayern a commanding lead.

But the Scottish champions pulled one back with 10 minutes left at Celtic Park.

A controversial stoppage-time penalty from substitute Gustaf Nilsson secured Club Brugge a 2-1 home win against Atalanta.

Ferran Jutgla opened the scoring in the 15th minute, before Mario Pasalic levelled in the 41st minute.

In the other games, AC Milan lost 1-0 at Feyenoord and Benfica won 1-0 at Monaco.

The second legs of the play-off fixtures will be played next week.
