From Isaac Job, Uyo
A former board member of Akwa Ibom State Rural Access Road Agency who recently resigned his appointment has denied allegations that his resignation was connected to affiliation with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Last month, Mr NdianaAbasi Udom resigned his appointment causing speculation that he resigned to join the PDP as his boss defected to the All Progressives Congress.
Udom’s name was among the list of members of PDP Caretaker Committee published by PDP National Chairman Damagum for Akwa Ibom as the state was sacked.
Udom, now the chairman of the Governing Council of Sure Foundation College of Nursing Sciences in Ukanafun, therefore refuted recent speculations linking him with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
He explained that his recent resignation from the state government appointment was strictly a personal decision and had no political undertones.
Udom said clarification was necessary after his name appeared on a list of members of the newly formed caretaker committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
“I dissociate myself from the PDP, I remain a loyal member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“My resignation from government appointment had nothing to do with the PDP caretaker committee. I believe my name was included due to my recent silence in political activities.
“I am a fully registered member of the APC in my ward with registration number 174210, and I am listed as number 5 on the party register.
“I have never attended any PDP meeting, publicly or privately, since my voluntary decision to join the APC as well as support the present administration in the State.”
He explained that his withdrawal from the political limelight was to focus fully on the establishment and development of the Sure Foundation College of Nursing Sciences in Ukanafun, a private institution dedicated to advancing nursing and midwifery education which would provide the much-needed manpower for the health sector in Akwa Ibom State and beyond.
“I publicly dissociate myself from the PDP and all matters related to its newly constituted caretaker committee.”
